Celebrating 500 Years of Cowboys in Florida through photography – ABC7 News

Did you know Florida is the ORIGINAL HOME to the American Cowboy?
In honor of 2021 being the 500th year of Florida being the 1st Cowboy state, photographer Michelle Tricca is having an exhibition of larger-than-life-sized photographs in a spacious 3,500 square foot venue at the Mercato in Naples.
Photographed locally, depicting working life at an Immokalee-based cattle ranch, the work aims to bring light to this iconic Florida lifestyle based in historic roots.
It’s amazing how many people, both newbies & long time Florida residents have no idea such a lifestyle exists in our state.
Opening next this week, the show is open to the public, and will defying the misnomer attributing Cowboy Culture to the West.
Any proceeds from print sales will stay in the Immokalee community, benefitting The Face Of Immokalee humanitarian mural project.
